Today's Photograph . . . . Don't Assume That You Have Lots Of Time To Have This Conversation (MQ) |
Bible Study Verse
John 3:17
For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (NASB)
Thoughts
This Spring I've been hunting the late turkey season in Michigan
with my kids. Due to our schedules with Spring sports, it's really our
best option because it runs longer than the early season. It gives us a
greater length of time to still get out and hunt, just catching bits
and pieces of the season, which is the only way it really works for us
right now.
The problem though was that our spring really came early this
year, which launched the turkeys into mating season earlier as well.
The normal routine of "calling in" the toms has been more difficult.
The toms just don't seem to be interested at this point. It seems as
though it's just too late for them.

Action Point
Awhile
back, I read a study that showed that the vast majority of Christians
made a decision for Christ during their teen years. The study was
emphasizing how important it is to reach kids for Christ during this
phase of their life, which it is.
But, what about the
older folks who still don't know Christ? A friend of mine came to know
Christ when he was about 50. His wife had prayed for his salvation for
approximately 20 years before he got saved. What a great day that was
for their family when he came to know Christ as his savior!!!
If
you've been praying for an older adult who doesn't know Christ yet,
continue to do so. Don't be afraid to sit down and have a conversation
with him or her about their eternal salvation.
Another
friend of mine asked me recently when I had another devotional coming
on Sportsmen's Devotional. Before the next one came out, he had passed
away suddenly. Don't assume that you have lots of time to have this
conversation. My friend's passing took us all by surprise.
Fortunately, he was a Godly man and knew his eternity would be spent in
heaven.
Your friend might be in the "late season" of his
or her life, but make every effort to share your faith and allow them
the opportunity to respond and pray!
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
Owl
calls or hawk calls really do work very nicely to find the turkeys.
Give out a call and intently listen to see if you can hear a gobble.
