Today's Photograph . . . . More Times Than Not, Your Life and Mine Is Simply Spent Scattering Seeds of Faith (MQ) |
Bible Study Verse
Luke 8:15
But the seed in
the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest
and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. (NASB)
Thoughts
Last year, I started leasing a new piece of property to hunt. My
son and I spent hours upon hours out at the property trying to get it
ready for the upcoming deer season. Part of the property had been
clear-cut years before, so it was really thick. We had to:
- Cut lanes to get in and out of various areas of the property.
- Build a ground blind in one particular spot.
- Hang tree stands in several locations for bow season.
- Place our trail cams out to figure out travel patterns for the deer.
- Place an old camper up at one spot on the property for us to be able to stay at, rather than running back and forth from home.
The
neighbors were also clear cutting a section of woods. There was a lot
of activity for one summer - probably too much for the property,
actually.
Now that most of the work is already in place,
we're looking forward to planting our food plots this year. Last year
was a big learning year for us in just getting acclimated with the
property, but we're hoping that the food plots that we plant this year
will help.
We've been researching what plants grow best
in certain soil conditions. It's all about the seeds that we plant as
to how things turn out for us this upcoming fall.

Action Point
Throughout
our Christian lives, we should constantly be looking to plant seeds.
Sometimes, you and I might get the opportunity to lead someone to
Christ, but more times than not, your life and mine is simply spent
scattering seeds of faith. As we live out our work days, as we travel
to various places, and as we support our kids' programs/teams, we have
the opportunity to rub shoulders with a lot of folks who need Jesus as
Savior.
Be
conscious of the great responsibility to plant seeds in other people's
lives about Christ. We are to be His ambassadors to the world, and it
happens one little seed at a time . . . maybe an encouraging word, maybe
offering to pray for someone, maybe sharing a verse that means a lot to
you, or maybe taking the time to listen to someone's problem. Whatever
the situation, share your faith as God allows.
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
Whitetails can be pretty lazy. If you want to redirect their path,
place a downed tree in their way to funnel them in a different
direction. Often, if you cut a path in a thicket, the deer will follow
the path of least resistance.
