Bible Study Verse
II Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (NKJV)
Thoughts I was writing a devotional for Sportsmen's Devotionals when I misspelled a word in my text. I only misspelled it by one letter, but that one wrong letter created an entirely different word and completely changed the meaning of the whole message.
I thought about the scribes of old and how diligent they had to be to ensure that the Word of God was copied correctly. They went so far as to count the letters and spaces used when copying a new Bible to ensure that there was absolutely no error in the new script they were writing.
If changing one letter of one word can so completely alter the intent of the writer, can you imagine how important it is for us to have correct doctrine? No wonder the Bible tells us that we must study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Action Point It is easy to let ourselves enjoy the warm fuzzies of the Christian life without doing the hard work of understanding scripture and doctrine. Men and women study!
Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
Okay! This is not an outdoor tip; nevertheless, it is important to me. Remember that when you use spell-check, it will not pick up words that are spelled correctly but used in the wrong context. You must proofread!
