Today's Photograph . . . . A Good Cleansing Breath Before Each Course Of Fire (MQ)
Bible Study Verse
Luke 5:16
But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. (NASB)

Thoughts

To be a proficient shooter there are 7 fundamentals you need to know and use.

The fourth fundamental is breathing. It seems simple and natural to breathe, but when shooters are under stress they forget this basic and natural thing.

Shooters will focus so hard on hitting their target, they forget to breathe. Poor breathing can  affect your body in different ways.  It can cause muscle fatigue and your body will become tense.  It can also affect your vision.  It can make it difficult to focus on your sights.  Poor breathing compounded by stress can also limit your vision creating tunnel vision.

We always tell our shooters to take a good cleansing breath before each course of fire and to breathe during the course.

Action Point

Many of us live hectic lives. Between family, work, and ministry our lives get really busy.
Jesus also knew that feeling. He was trying to teach this group of men to be His disciples. He had to deal with the religious leaders who were trying to destroy Him and His teachings. During all this, He ministered day and night to the community.

To deal with what I am sure was a very stressful time,  He would often go out on His own and pray. Wow!  The Son Of God needed time to breathe.

We need to follow His example and do the same. I know when I am out sitting on a stand admiring His handy work things become calmer and my sights become clearer. We need to follow the example of our Savior and take time to breathe.

Sportsmen's Tip of the Day

Take some time for yourself and get out into the woods. Some of the best therapy I have ever had was with a Christian brother on the bank of a river.
