Bible Study Verses
Daniel 3:28-29
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way." (NIV)

Thoughts
I love to fly, whether I'm at the controls or a professional. My pilot's license allows me to fly single-engine fixed-wing aircraft. Don't ask me about the time I got to fly a 747 Simulator, it wasn't pretty. Crash and burn, baby! Maybe I'll leave flying the big planes to the pros!

On a fishing trip to Alaska I was constantly amazed at the sights from the window. Now, think with me. We're in a metal tube at 35,000 feet above the earth doing something that humans aren't supposed to be able to do, fly. We put our trust in the machine, the pilots, and the maintenance people that take care of that plane.

The views are awe inspiring. I never get tired of looking at the tops of clouds. There are peaks and valleys and you can see where the wind currents have cut channels through them. When we enter those clouds, we can't see anything and sometimes the ride gets a little turbulent.

Again, we have to trust the pilots and the machine. We don't even ask about the qualifications of either. We just assume that they will safely take us through the rough stuff. Talk about faith, it doesn't get any deeper than that. Right?

Action Point
When we walk with God, we have to put our faith and trust in Him and His Holy Spirit, always. There are going to be times when we can't see where He's taking us and times when the ride will get rough. Those are times when, like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, our faith will be tested. It may be when you get a bad report from the doctor, when something goes terribly wrong on a hunt and your very survival is uncertain, or when God has allowed you to prosper to see how you will handle what He's given you. There's a saying, "Character is tested when you're up against it". Well, guess what, God tests us. He's watching to see how we react to adversity, to see what kind of character we possess, and to see if we really trust Him.

The founder of this website, Sportsmen's Devotional, always signs his letters with the acronym, "WIHP". The letters stand for "Walk In His Paths. Good advice when the road gets hard to see and maybe a little bumpy! Trust God that He will lead you through the rough stuff!

Sportsmen's Tip of the Day
When booking with a guide, always check his references and those of his associates. You want to be sure that he will be able to get you there and back safely and hopefully put you onto the animals you're hunting.
